Seattle council may make U-turn on delivery drivers’ pay

Maelstrom Pullman, a DoorDasher, accepts a request for a delivery on his phone Tuesday, August 30, 2022. The time to accept a request is very short, sometimes only 30 seconds. Pullman lives in Capitol Hill and delivers in the Central Seattle area. He’s been heavily involved in advocacy work for the Pay Up legislation that Seattle adopted this year (to go into effect next year) that would ensure a minimum wage and IRS reimbursement for delivery drivers. 221380

The proposed changes are the clearest example yet of the political pendulum swing in City Hall toward a more conservative approach that gives companies greater power.
