Biden approves disaster declaration for WA after January storms

As the waves hit the shore along 63rd Ave SW in West Seattle, six-year-old Kander braves the high waves Tuesday, January 9, 2024. He was there with his parents and older sister.  Felicia Nelson, Kander’s mother, said her son is a student at an outdoor school so he is already used to inclement weather.  Highs in the low 40’s are predicted for Wednesday and Thursday and  there is a chance of snow both Friday and Saturday when the temperatures will be in the 20’s.  225928

The storms are estimated to have caused more than $30 million in damage across 16 counties in Washington.
